We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.   A Day in the Life of an Engineering Intern at Toole Design   As an Intern, you will not be fetching coffee or sorting mail - we want you here for real, meaningful work. You'll spend 8 to 12 weeks working with planners, engineers, and urban designers on a variety of projects. All internships are paid positions.   Your work may include helping to develop concepts and graphics for new active transportation facilities and design guidance, preparing materials for public meetings, analyzing data for city and regional plans, and participating in project discussion s and workshops to bring new ideas to the communities in which we work. Toole Design is a truly inter-disciplinary firm, so our planners, landscape architects, urban designers and engineers work side-by-side to ensure that our projects are safe for all users, easily constructible, and fit in the community context. We'll offer you the opportunity to work on a wide range of project types and work products, company-wide trainings on core skills and best practices, and career mentorship from the best in the business. You'll get the opportunity to attend key project meetings and site visits; and grow your skills with design programs like AutoCAD or MicroStation; graphic design/simulation programs in the Adobe Suite, and analysis/mapping programs like ArcMap and QGIS. Best of all, you'll get to work with colleagues who love what they do and can't wait to introduce you to the field we care so much about.   Qualifications of an Engineering Intern at Toole Design:   Undergraduate: Current or upcoming enrollment in a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering or related program field Master ' s: Current or upcoming enrollment in a Master's of Science in Civil Engineering or related program field Recent graduate: Degree in a related field or demonstrated passion for the field   Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, skills, and programs P roficiency in Microsoft Office suite   MicroStation or AutoCAD experience or willingness to learn Experience in an office environment a plus   You'll be great here if:   You are passionate about active transportation in cities, suburbs and rural areas   You want to learn and are willing to take on new tasks  You thrive in a fast-paced environment and care about the details   You ask questions when you need help and take ownership of your work when you've gotten the answer   Work Schedule for an Engineering Intern at Toole Desi g n : This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 2-3 days per week. The Philadelphia office is conveniently located in Center City and easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit with access to the MFL, BSL, PATCO, numerous bus routes, and several Indego stations all within two blocks .
