Precision Glass Molding:Precision Glass Molding is a unique lens manufacturing technology in the optics industry. As opposed to the traditional method of grinding and polishing a lens, we use high temperature and pressure to transform a simple lens blank made from optical grade glass, into a more complex lens. The molding takes place within a specialized machine in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. Summary of Essential Job Duties:The person hired for this position will go through a 2-4 week training period and then be responsible for:Loading and unloading glass molding pressKeeping track of daily production totals and dataPerforming basic lens inspectionTaking mechanical measurements (micrometers)Loading lenses into traysMaintaining a clean working environment Job Requirements:Attendance reliability, hardworking, and dependability are essential functions of this position.Good manual dexterityAbility to multi-task and stay focusedAbility to follow directionsGood communication skillsBasic computer skillsPrevious Optical Experience a plus but not required Additional information:The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standingInvolves the use of a small amount of solvents Highly repetitive work, usually in a fixed body position for a sustained period of timeGenerally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as suchRequires initiative and mental concentration to learn new skills and techniquesSafety Glasses are requiredExercises independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operationsFollows procedures for all jobsRequirements and Competencies:Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.The employee is frequently required to use the computer.Work Environment:May involve the use of oils and solvents.Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.Compensation & Benefits:RPO offers highly competitive, total compensation packages linked directly to employee's professional experience.
